Hunting in Romania - Capercaille

 Hunting Capercaille in Romania

Hunting Season: [ 20 April - 10 May ]

Hunting Method: the Noble Hunting !
Hunting Capercaille is made during their mating period (middle of March, beginning of April) in the time of Rotate of Capercaille, when males opens its tail in fan, rotate and spinning in circles and semicircles in his home ~ area, they are fighting among themselves and make strong sounds that attract females !
Hunting methods are:
- prowl hunting at the rotate and fighting area, in places ~ open in the forest ~ where they gather together with females,
- but the most spectacular hunting Capercaille (passed from generation to generation) it is the fumbling hunting : approaching, during the Capercaille song, to Capercaille which rotates in the tree or on the ground, when the hunter, in hidden, makes 2 or 3 steps - during the third stanza/strophe (the last part of the song) - called the rub-stone/grinder song("tocilat"), when the rooster/Capercaille does not hear and does not see; all the beauty of this hunting consist in the craftsmanship, patience and emotions of the hunter to succeed to approach the burning love roosters/ Capercailles, at the same time deceiving the vigilance of their "brides" ~ chickens, which give the danger alarm for the smallest suspicion.
The Capercaille song has three stanzas: start of "toaca" a "toc-toc-toctoctoc.." followed shortly after by "urdup" the sound like removing a cork from the bottle, ending with a "siciritsiciritsiciritsicirit" - "tocilat" a rub-stone song that resembles with the sound of a sharpening the Ax.
The Capercaille get down on the ground near his home ~ area, singing and rotating spinning in circles and semicircles in the home ~ area, making leaps of 1-3 meters and giving wings stronger.
The tail is fan-shaped and the wings ajar leaving footprints in the snow with tip feathers.
Hen voice is a "got-got-got" and the love mating is usually early in the morning, in the home area of the most powerful Capercaille.

Hunting in Romania - Red Deer

Hunting Red DEER in Romania Cerb lopatar Cerb lopatar

RED DEER (Cervus elaphus L.)
 Hunting Season:
- selection: [ 1 september - 15 december ]

- trophy: [ 10 september - 15 november ]
- hind + fawn: [ 1 september - 15 february ]

Hunting Method:
- fumbling hunting
- hunting at prowl
The optimal hunting season is in the „BONCANIT” period, when can we use a „calling-sound” imitating the sound of male; the Red Deer hunt starts early~early in the morning, around 4 am, you have to climb the mountain at night ... to be in the morning above, waiting for Red Deer to climb up ... in the very prime of the day, luring him from time to time with love sounds ...or calling to fight... the mastery imitating of the roar.
Personally, I consider that Shell~Triton is the professional choice in imitating the sounds the Red Deer; in general the man voice abounds with vocal sounds "oh, uh, ah", related, intoned, long or short, all amplified like in a wild sylvan concert genuine.
To hear at night in mountains how the forest resound with bellowing Red Deer - you're quakes emotions.

FALLOW DEER (Dama dama L.)
Hunting Season:
- selection: [ 1 september - 15 december ]
- trophy: [ 10 september - 1 december ]
- doe + fawn: [ 1 september - 15 february ]

Hunting Method:
The FALLOW DEER hunting is quite difficult because he is always moving and he's not keep his footpaths, always changing roads;
Very skittish, once feels/lives the panic never returns back in that/same area ...
The best hunting methods are on the prowl or approaching him on foot.
- hunting at prowl
- fumbling hunting
The optimal hunting season is in the rut period, when he comes out in glades or in the crop lands.

Hunting in Romania - Pheasant

Hunting Hunting Hunting

Hunting season: [ 1 October - 28 February ]

Hunting Method: hunting on foot – walking / group of hunters ~ maximum 6 / personally I like it very much !
Usually, hunting pheasants is done on foot – walking; this game can hunt all day, from morning to evening.
Ideal and most beautiful is to have hound/dog for pointing, leap up and recovery the pheasants shot.
Hunting like this, in a successful day - with dog - you can shoot 15 ~ pheasants, without dog - you can shoot 5 ~ pheasants.
for maximum safety, it is imperative that hunters go walking only in the line, they will shoot only in the front or back, minimum angle of shooting being : (45 degrees~200 m) | (65 degrees~100 m);
(pretty rare in our country: hunting chase with whipper-in people and/or hounds, we do it like this only when the vegetation is very high - then Hunters sit at the edge of vegetation, and through tall grass enter whipper-in people and hounds to scare and leap up the pheasants)
